Forestry & timber extraction
Woodland scale work — thinning, windblow clearance and getting the timber out to a stack a lorry can reach.
Small woodland blocks, shelter belts and estate policies. Thinning to give the best stems room, clearing windblow after a storm, and winching and extracting timber off ground a forwarder cannot reach.
Timber can go to roadside for sale, be milled on site into beams and boards, or come back to us for firewood — whichever makes you the most from what is standing there.
Fair questions
- Do I need a felling licence?
- Above a small volume threshold, usually yes, from Scottish Forestry. We will tell you where you stand before anything is cut.
- Can I sell the timber?
- Often, if there is enough of it and access for a lorry. We will be straight with you about whether it is worth the haulage.
- Can you work on steep or wet ground?
- Winching gets timber out of places machines cannot reach. Very wet ground is usually better left until it firms up.
