Stump grinding
A stump left in the ground is a trip hazard, a honey fungus host and the reason your new turf has a dead patch in it.
The grinder takes the stump down below soil level — deeper if you are laying a patio or planting straight over the top. Depth is the thing to agree in advance: 150mm is enough for turf, considerably more for hard landscaping or a replacement tree.
On big root plates the crane earns its place, lifting the whole mass out rather than grinding for half a day.

- How deep do you go?
- Around 150mm for turf. Deeper for paving or replanting — tell us the plan and we will grind to suit.
- Will it damage my drains?
- We check for services before the grinder goes near the ground. Anything unmarked and shallow is a risk we will flag first.
- Can you replant in the same spot?
- Not straight into grindings — they rob nitrogen as they rot. We dig out and backfill with topsoil where a new tree is going in.
